George Toriello sent me this researched information February 11, 2020 on Ralph E. Lovell whose name is on the Plaque at First Baptist in Hackensack, NJ.  

Ralph E. Lovell whose last name is spelled “Lovelle” in the October 5, 1918 Honor Roll List in The Evening Record, was born on February 1, 1892 in Hackensack, New Jersey and when he registered for the draft, he was living at 64 Poplar Avenue Hackensack, NJ. 

Ralph E. Lovell registered for the draft on November 10, 1913 at the age of 21, according to New York Guard Service Cards 1906-1918.   Ralph E. Lovell was a Private with Company ‘G’ 7th Infantry well before the U.S. entrance into World War I in 1917. 

            The U.S. Army Transport Service list of 1910-1939 reveals that Ralph E. Lovell departed Hoboken, NJ on May 10, 1918 on board the ship USS Princess Matoika.  While in France Ralph E. Lovell rose to the rank of Sergeant while serving with Company 'G', 338th. Infantry in Nevers and Cosne, in Central France. 

Ralph E. Lovell departed Brest, France on March 26, 1919 on board the USS Leviathan for the return trip to the United States.  On January 22, 1970, Ralph E. Lovell died while living in Connecticut and is buried in Carey Cemetery in Canterbury, Wyndham County, Connecticut.
